Iori Tomita is a lifelong fisherman. He’s also an artist and he’s spent time as an undergrad studying ichthyology. In his art, all of his passion and knowledge is on display in his collection of neon-colored specimens. His work, which he calls “New World Transparent Specimens” is created only after a lengthy process that involves preservatives, enzymes and dyes. Tomita says of his work that, “I want to show people the hidden side of natural beauty that they might miss out on ordinarily.” I think it does just that. [Wired, Via Neatorama]
This is great, fantastic photography and classic science. It is just a damn shame that the tragedy of the Earthquake, Tsunami and Nuclear meltdown will affect how the world see’s this work.
Thanks for the effort Iori .
God bless the people of Japan, hoping for a quick recovery.
